Hello, let me introduce myself, my name is Keli and I’m addicted to vintage.
If you are sat reading this then its likely that you are too!
I’ve always been a collector, when I was younger it was novelty rubbers (erasers), horse ornaments and Wade Whimsies. I was forever on the hunt for bargains the quirkier the better. I knew I liked different things to my friends early on but it took until I was 30 to find the real me, and then at least another 5 years to feel confident to go out wearing vintage.
Starting my unit at The Retro Station in Leominster in 2017 really boosted my confidence. It was an excuse to dress up in a fabulous vintage outfit for the day. I had so many nice comments that I forgot about my concerns about what people would say. I took the stares as a compliment. As American jeweller Harry Winston said “people will stare, make it worth their while”
I love the way I dress and the way it makes me feel. I’m still learning and experimenting, I don’t pretend to be an expert in all areas but I know what I like and what makes me happy. I love to mix different styles and eras, I will happily mix a bit of 80’s with a 50’s swing dress. Do what you like, there are no rules when it comes to being happy.
If you are thinking of becoming more vintage go for it! You don’t have to jump straight in at the deep end, maybe start with a pair of vintage style shoes and a true vintage handbag and go from there. Your confidence will grow each day,
Be you, be vintage, stay vintage
